A California woman who was abused in 1995-96 when she was 9 or 10 years old, has won a significant jury verdict against the Jehovah’s Witnesses. The monetary amount was $7,000,000 and the jury found the religious institution 40% liable for the abuse. The remaining 60% of liability fell on the defendant, the individual who was involved with the Jehovah’s Witnesses during the period of sexual abuse as a Ministerial Servant and remained involved with the Jehovah’s Witnesses even after a prior sexual abuse allegation was lodged against him to Jehovah Witnesses religious leaders.

There are holes in this story & I doubt that Ms. Conti will see any $$ from the WTBTS. The case has been appealed.

This is an amazing victory. I have known too many people that were victims of sexual abuse in the Jehovah’s Witness faith, only to have the abuse covered up or denied. None that I know of have ever recieved justice or compensation. The more public this problem becomes the faster it will begin to resolve. What a brave woman to stand up for herself.

Eligibility is a huge fear for some. The Student Loan Forgiveness Act’s settlement and forgiveness plan only applies to federal student loans. The Student Loan Ranger repeatedly distinguishes between federal and private loans and affords information on ease for federal loans that is already available.
• Student loans can be confusing, with many different types and and servicers. Consolidation exemplifies this perplexity. There are many opportunities, but only one retains federal protections like income-driven repayment plans, deferments and forbearances, and forgiveness.
If you are consolidating federal student loans, consolidate into a Federal Consolidation Loan. These would be eligible for the Student Loan Forgiveness Act’s 10/10 arrangement and improvements to Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and the interest rate cap would submit an application to new loans after the act is passed. They also are eligible for the existing protections mentioned above.
Keep in mind, however, that consolidating loans may reset any progress you’ve made on the subject of relief like Public Service Loan Forgiveness. If you consolidate federal loans through a private service, they are not eligible for relief under the Student Loan Forgiveness Act, or for any currently available relief.
A common point of bewilderment: Just because you make payments to lenders like Sallie Mae doesn’t mean you don’t have a federal loan. Log into the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to see if you presently have a federal loan; it’s worth knowing if you can access some relief!
If you’re repaying student loans and want to simplify the course of action by making a single check every month, we’re happy to help. Likewise, if you’ve fallen on financial hardship, Student Loan Consolidation can help you weather your position by lowering monthly payments and avoiding a default. If you’re already in default, we can help with that, too.
Our Consolidation team are experts in providing the proper documentation needed to be submitted to the right channels. We have streamed lined the course of action and make it very simple. There are a number of programs available and will qualify you for the best one. Please contact us to see which Student Loan Debt Releif plan is best for you.
